From 10 episode to revivals, prequels no one cares for, and mainstream entertainment acting like jerks to fanbases. J-Man’s Notes: Hey Public, What do you want?

Sometimes the question to ask people is “What do want?”

You ever ask yourself this question and sometimes find yourself running short on how to answer it or its variations?

It stems in many parts of our lives from career goals, relationships, housing, and so on.  It follows us everywhere and sometimes we don’t know how to answer it and if we do there’s another question that remains if we’re really satisfied with the outcome or not?

The same holds true for our taste in entertainment (esp.movies). you read about it daily regarding the latest releases every week then you see the postings on IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, and publications everywhere about the ratings.

Rarely do these films ever reach certify fresh or high marks among critics who write for these publications unless its a favorite actor, a product they like, or something they gain from telling you their perspective.

To make matters worse sometimes they’ll go into a narrative or ideologue that explains how they would’ve wanted a certain character to behave, or how it would’ve benefited them if a character made their change in early Act 1 rather than the break in two (Screenwriters know this).  Or how they would praise the character for being a strong female without understanding the direction of where the character was going in the first place (Confidence = good, Arrogance = bad).

Keep in mind however that all critics aren’t so bad as they are doing their job and sometimes they’re on point about where plot lines are weak and Characters development is a bit lacking. Unfortunately when it gets to their own narrative and how they would operate (esp. if the Ego is in charge) that tends to go against the whole point of the movie. There are plenty of reviewers that go into their agenda more than just discussing the movie and you get to see that sweet bias a lot.

It can get disingenuous, and destroy what might have been a clever film if not used properly.

So I tend to ask the public the hard question as I pursue film making, and that often is “What do you want?”

-pause-

I ask again “What do you want?”

Now considering all of the worldwide opinions out there I guarantee that I will never find the correct answer and even if I did, whatever I or anyone creates will never satisfy any or all of them. Even if someone was to get they wanted to the finest details, they wouldn’t appreciate it and find ways to move themselves out of the equation by writing how they would want that to go differently too.  So as I look at all of these movies that seem to be cookie cutter prints, riding on the strong woman feminist narrative, and are pre-sold to the point where they’re going to get audiences via every dirty trick in the book.

I’d say that those who even attempt to create “original IPs” will have a 10 yard fight on their hands, and in the end that’s what everyone claims to want.

Everybody wants “originality” but little did you realize we’re all steadily copying off anyone and everyone who has ever worked in the media industry.   Everyone is copying off of someone but they either put their own spin on it, or they’re just so blatant about it that no one really notices, and then there’s the complainers (story for another post).  Not saying that you shouldn’t strive for an original touch but much like perfection it can destroy more than establish.

If “Originality” was to show itself in any medium could you handle it?

Would you notice it?

Chances are you probably wouldn’t…Not unless you had something against the person who made it or unless you took the time to create films yourself to realize how difficult the process is.   Now while I do agree that remakes are annoying from time to time, pre-sold markets aren’t helping much, and shared universes are starting to  put salt in the wound but you can see how we caused this right?

Because we won’t stop buying into it, sure we have all of these wants and desires but we either don’t pursue them or we see how the top creatives just rework and resell the pre-sold stuff to us.

For example, a classic movie like Friday the 13th is getting a remake, and upon seeing initial production pictures and news we (the purists) cry out in anguish yet we still buy our tickets for the midnight showing to see it.  The movies at these points don’t have to be good or bad, some of us do it because we want to see how bad it is but still they don’t have to try as hard because we’ll go see it all regardless.

Whether we want to do it for laughs or to make content discussing the movie in question and how it went wrong or right, in the end the movie execs won. Because they got our hard-earned cash and gave you the best slop they could cook up but remember although you ate that slop you still discuss your implacable and insatiable “wants.”

So if you’re a creator in any medium whatever the people want is a variable inconclusive concept. Just make a great story, and do the best you can to sell your content out there.

Because things are so over-saturated now,  the public can’t tell the difference anymore.

Song Of The Day : 04/04/17 Turbo Tuesday Motivation

Hey J360 Legion

Song of the Day is back with a new format, and it will work in shifts with Song Of The Night. It will transfer between the two styles every Friday. Since I was a bit mixed up about Friday’s theme when starting this feature, so we’re going to put everything into action starting today.

I hope you all are putting your efforts in, and achieving your goals. Sometimes you have to reset, and give things another shot but never cave in. This is what Tuesday is all about, to dust off, and try again. I know today’s song captures that essence entirely. While we may have some difficult times ahead, it’s not impossible to look towards the positives that we can make in the future by doing little changes in the present.

Today’s song is called “2020” by Z6B3R.

If you love the sounds of Z6B3R ,feel free to check out his Soundcloud page here.

Never let anyone or anything stop you no matter what age, color, or size you are.

Shatter all inhibitions, and fight for your place in the world.

Song Of The Night: 03/10/17 Friday Night Fever

Hey J360 Legion

It’s time to put the grind on hold for a little bit. It’s Friday night, and I know plenty of you have some earnings to fool around with. It’s the perfect evening to flaunt and strut our style for one night.  If you don’t believe me then perhaps the Song Of The Night will inspire you.

Tonight’s song is called “Voyage” by Lemmino.

Feel the vibrant waves lead you onto a new adventure.

Something will inspire you into creating new works, shifting your life into something miraculous, and helps you to achieve more as you embrace the grind.  Because who you are and what you’ll become is entirely up to you so as you do relax tonight, and need that extra push for where you’re going.  Listen to the right music to awaken you to your true form.

If you love the sounds of Lemmino, feel free to check out his Soundcloud here.

Songs Of The Night: 03/09/17 Two for Thursday

Hey J360 Legion

Ready to go for Doubles?

It’s the right time for it, we’ve got plenty of new content coming soon, and I know we did a bit of a shift to PM style this week too. I’ve been handling quite a lot of other materials on the morning shift so that’s why we have another Song of The Night special for you all happening right now.   However the feature must go on as always and luckily the double presentation for the PM Shift is just as formidable as its morning counterpart.  The Playlist is just flowing with some great tracks by terrific artists that are just waiting for their moment to shine.  So let’s start it all just right with listening to two excellent Songs for the Double Trouble special.

Our first track is called “Hyperthrust” by Matt Mason.

The 2nd one is called “Degenerate” by Murkula.

Two great tracks made by astounding artists, and both of them could use the love for the material they’ve created for all of us to enjoy.  So if you love the sounds of both Matt Mason and Murkula feel free to check out their Soundcloud pages via the list below.

  1. Matt Mason
  2. Murkula

I think things are going to be back up to speed for next week regarding the AM Shift but for now the rest of the entries this week are for the night shift.  It’s all good though because I know you all love the Batman Shifts as much as I do. Since Daylight Savings is on the Rise I wonder if that means I’ll have to move this feature to 8pm now, haha.  Something to cheek out later but for now I hope all of you are staying focused and making your goals happen regardless of what shift you’re on or where you’re at in life.   You should always be taking notes and striving to make your best impact happen.  If you need any inspiration look no further than those who composed these great songs we get to hear daily.

Song Of The Night: 03/08/17 Wildcard Wednesday

Hey J360 Legion

We’re back on the PM Shift again, and since it’s Wednesday night we have something random to present to you all tonight. Since some of you like me have a rotating gameplan, randomness just comes with the territory. Sometimes we find a hit, and other times we make a miss. I don’t know what the playlist has in store tonight but I’m betting it will be awesome.

Tonight’s track is called “Purple” by Carabass Barabass

Deep grooves from this track and it really fits the tone of the evening.

If you love the sounds of Carabass Barabass, feel free to check out his Soundcloud here.

I know this one came a little late tonight but it goes with the randomness regarding Wednesdays here. I’m sure some of you can get swept up in the storm of everything going topsy turvy but the best thing to do is allow it to lead  you in the right direction if possible.  If it does steer you off course, reset and try again for your next adventure.

Song Of The Night: 03/07/17 Turbo Tuesday

Hey J360 Legion

It’s time for another trip to the night shift so we can handle some much needed developments. Right now we’ll need some music to help get the night shift started and if you haven’t made moves yet now is a good time to do it. I hope you all have made your endeavors count today. If not well maybe tonight’s song will inspire you. Whether day or night it is still Turbo Tuesday and you have to kick things into overdrive to make some stunning results.

We’ll be looking at youtube remixes, and this particular artist did a fantastic job with the Game Of Death theme from the Bruce Lee movie of the same name.

So tonight’s track is called “The Game Of Death” by John Barry (Styzmask Remix).

RIP to the great composer, John Barry who originally wrote this song and shout outs for Styzmask for creating this rendition of a classic theme, and he has plenty more from his YouTube channel for you all to check out here.

Don’t let anything stop your elevation, and keep pursuing your goals no matter what just like the featured composers.  There’s a will and a way to make everything possible.
