Album Spotlight#3: Valkyrie by Maestro Eternal

If there’s one thing I enjoy about the music I find, it’s how they take me on an adventure. Usually feeling the vibes and energy that they put into every note or chord with a mixture of ballads and songs selling the essence of what makes them unique. The right album could also help inspire you to keep going when things are rough or the chips are down…Sometimes all we need is that extra drive to push ourselves especially when it just feels safe and comforting to stay neutral. However the comfort zone as we all know is a trap and it will keep you detained if you allow it.

While building J360 Jams, I managed to meet a wonderful musician whose background in music resonated so well with my passion of creating films. I found her by checking out her art via social media and listening to one of her tracks. We created a wonderful partnership as she allowed me to play her music on the J360 Jams lineup.

That artist is called Maestro Eternal, and she’s been an important part of my adventure thus far. Tonight we’ll be looking into her album “Valkyrie.” 10 Tracks and each one tells a story of someone rising against their pain and demons to become the hero they need in their lives. You can feel every emotion taking place from beginning to end and you find yourself in the same shoes as whoever the protagonist is in the story. As all creators know there are moments where you feel everything is caving in but you also have that moment where you ride through the storm and rise up to face the obstacles in your way.

Maestro Eternal doesn’t disappoint at all when she takes us on this trip. I felt an urge on one of my bad days to just hang up the production game but by listening to this album. I just knew I couldn’t walk away I had to keep going as my adventures are always going to be a test, and my journey is much different than anyone else’s. This album will inspire you to keep moving, feel the fear, understand the loss but grow and become more.

Valkyrie is one of the best albums I’ve ever experienced and I say thank you to Maestro Eternal for everything.

Album Synopsis (Excerpt from Maestro Eternal herself):

This album is about my own life experiences and hardships I’ve had to face. Most of the times, we don’t choose the experience or the things that happen to us. At least when it comes to painful experiences. It’s what we do after those things that matter. Those things we do after hardships are what mold us.
The overall concept of the album is based on trauma and what your own mind and body do to get away from the these things. How in the end, no one’s coming to save you but yourself. It’s about all the different choices you face in life, especially when dealing with those hardships.

Do you choose to stay the same, floating in a limbo, replaying your own history? Do you choose to wear a mask and disguise yourself? Do you let yourself be consumed by your past mistakes, past traumas? Maybe ever forget who you are? Or will you rise above it, forgive yourself and move on? Will be come your own hero?

I’ve been through all of these phases of pain, trauma, vengeance, regret. And for 10 years, I didn’t create anything at all. I stagnated and let my past take over me. There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t think about some aspect of my past. It created a monster within myself and it consumed me to where I didn’t even recognize myself in the mirror anymore. Then, after 10 years, I woke up. I killed the monster inside me and became the Valkyrie that I needed in my own life.
